PREY Is The Game To Play In 2017

prey video gamePREY has only been out a couple of days and I am so excited about this game. That’s really saying something since I don’t really tend to get excited over video games.  It’s also put out by Bethesda, which is a big shot in the arm.  They tend to put out games I like.

In order to get my attention, a game has to go beyond the typical genres and have a deeper storyline than most. They have to go above and beyond the norm. Good graphics are nice, but not essential. Story and uniqueness is what grabs my attention. PREY has done this.

Here’s the break-down:

“In PREY, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station — your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities. The fate of the Talos I and everyone aboard is in your hands.”

I have, to this point, refused to watch any player’s game-play. Usually I will look up a game on Twitch to see if it may be a game I want. With PREY, I was convinced since I saw the first trailer and I just do not want anything spoiled for me.

With what I have seen, PREY is very reminiscent of the Bioshock games in their style, look, and unique story. I’m sure that is one reason that I am so excited about it. I have been a huge fanboy of the Bioshocks since the first one.

New video games tend to run about $60 anymore, but I found where I can grab it at a very affordable price.

If you’re looking for something exciting that will keep you involved, I think PREY is going to be the game to do it in 2017. If you are playing it yourself, leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. No spoilers, please! 😉

Time for the 2016 Portland Retro Gaming Expo!! Woot!!

Portland Retro Gaming Expo hosts a celebration of gaming history and culture

Video game fans from across North America will converge in Portland on October 21-23, 2016 for the 11th annual Portland Retro Gaming Expo (PRGE). PRGE is the largest convention of its kind in the U.S., featuring over 170 exhibitors, hours of panels on gaming development, history and culture, and thousands of games to play from over 45 years of gaming history. The “Retrocade” includes nearly 200 arcade and pinball titles set to freeplay, plus hundreds of home console games.

“When we started the event eleven years ago it was a group of friends getting together to trade, play and talk about video games.” said Chuck Van Pelt, show manager of the Expo. “Since that time we have expanded every year, eventually ending up in the Convention Center—the only venue in Portland that can handle our event. I guess you could say the popularity of retro gaming took us by surprise.”

Highlights of PRGE include tournaments on classic games by Atari, Sega and Nintendo, a curated video game museum, a game making workshop presented by the Portland Indie Game Squad and the 6th annual Classic Tetris World Championship where players from around the world will compete for the title of World’s Best at Tetris for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

The PRGE arcade will be open from Friday from 3:00 PM to midnight. The arcade plus the exhibitor floor and panels will open on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM and Sunday at 10:00 AM. PRGE is a family friendly, all-ages event that is open to the public.

“It’s been ten years since we started the Retro Gaming Expo and it has continued to surprise us with its

60,000 to 90,000 square feet this year in order to accommodate more games and more attendees.”

New Guacamole Sandwiches, Eating The Deli Stores, and Easter

I hope everyone is having a good Easter.  Went to church this morning, headed over to the local park for some fun (I’ll be shooting a lot of footage there with my new video camera glasses; videos to come!), and am now relaxing with a nice McCafe coffee.  And then a scathingly brilliant idea (anyone seenThe Trouble With Angels?” Great old favorite movie with Haley Mills):  I should talk with you guys!! 😀

So, here I sit, typing away and listening to some ambient sounds to soothe my savage breast.  I found a web site that you can mix various ambient sounds such as a fire, waves, wind, thunder, white noise, and more to create a really pleasant atmosphere to work in.  You can find the site, “A Soft Murmur” HERE.  They also offer apps for your phone or tablet.  Makes for a nice sleep!

I’ll be indulging in some Trove in a bit.  How many of my nerdy friends out there play video games?  Which ones do you like and do you prefer consoles or PC’s?  LEAVE IT IN THE COMMENTS. I’m an old-school PC guy, as if you probably didn’t figure that out already.

Did you catch the first episode of the new series, “Eating The Deli Stores?”  I’m really pumped about this one, because it adds so many more opportunities to do reviews!  I’ll be heading from gas station to gas station, seeing what they have to offer to eat in their delis.  This first one started the whole ball rolling well!!

Anywho, if you missed it, click the image below:

Did you hear that there is a new offering at McDonalds?  They are called Guacamole Sandwiches and they have them both with beef patties or a crispy chicken.  They are premium sandwiches, so they should be pretty good.  I’ll be doing one or both of these for you this next week.

I hope you all have a great remainder of the weekend and I’ll be releasing a new review on Monday, as usual.  Be sure to follow me on Twitter where I keep you updated on new happenings in the Fast Food industry and other fun things.
