Showing Doctor Who Some Love

I was a noob to Doctor Who and his exploits until recently.  Although the phenomenon began decades ago, I was never exposed to The Doctor until a couple years back.  Strange for a nerd, right?

I cut my teeth on the 9th Doctor (played by Christopher Eccleston) and his then sidekick, Rose Tyler.  This was the first series of the show’s revival in 2005.  I instantly fell in love with Doctor Who.  The episodes were exciting, fun, humorous, sometimes emotional, and pretty much self-contained.  A new adventure every episode!

Fun story for you.   As a Background Actor/Extra, I’ve gotten to work in productions shot here in Portland, such as GRIMM, Leverage, The Librarians, and Portlandia, for almost a decade so far.  Every once in a while, I also have to opportunity to do a movie shoot.  In early January of this year, a film called Bad Samaritan was being shot at a prison here in Portland.  One of the stars happened to be David Tennent, who portrayed the 10th Doctor in the Doctor Who series.  It was a two day shoot where I played a detective.  Just a fun time that I thought I’d share.

The latest Doctor (Peter Capaldi) hasn’t captured me as much as the 9th and 10th Doctors did.  Not sure exactly why.  Regardless, I’ve been grabbing some Doctor Who goodies here and there to decorate up my apartment and use for my set on my Old Nerd Reviews YouTube channel.  I particularly enjoy my Tardis and 9th Doctor Funko Pops.  I still need to grab a 10th Doctor Pop.  I LOVE these Funko Pop Vinyl things!

I’d like to know who your favorite Doctor is and why.  Also, feel free to share any Doctor Who memories special to you.  Thanks for listening to my ramblings and I’ll see you at Old Nerd Reviews. 😉

HAVE A FREAKING AWESOME DAY!!

Regards,

Tony

Merry Christmas From Old Nerd Reviews!

Hola, gang, and merry Christmas from Old Nerd Reviews!

This year has been terrific and I have all of you to thank for it.  As I’ve said many times before, without my audience, I’d be an old dude sitting in my car talking to myself.  The years go so fast anymore.  It seems to be that way for everyone who is getting older.  If you’re a younger pup, you’ll see what I mean some day. 😉

The YouTube channel is growing, as are my social media channels.  Needless to say, I’m having a ton of fun doing what I do and am always looking to try new things.  Thinking outside the box and being as creative as you want to be is always the key to growing any sort of brand online.  Anyone can do it.  It just takes hard work, passion, and the mind-set that tells you to never give up.  Just some encouragement. 😉

Anywho, thank you so much for hanging with me and here is to a wonderfully groovy new 2017!!

OLD NERD DOUBLE-HEADER!

Hi, gang!

It’s an Old Nerd double-header today!  Well, it actually started late last night, but we’ll pretend.

I wanted to go live to try out my XSplit Broadcaster software with YouTube Live.  I went live at around 11:30 am, not really anticipating anyone being around.  It was mainly for the test, which ended up turning out pretty well.  I just need to make a couple tweaks to the chat interface from the default settings.  To my surprise, about 20+ people jumped in and the questions started flying.  I tried to keep up as best I could, but they were coming a mile a minute.  I ended up gabbing with my night owl guests for an hour and a half.  We had a good time.  I know I did.  Here’s the video:

I got another surprise box from A&W Restaurants.  This one was to celebrate their #30DaysOfGiveaways and they sent along some groovy winter wear.  I LOVED IT!!  Just in time, too!  We had our first snow of the season here yesterday and it’s staying cold as heck.  Somewhere around the 30’s!  Anywho, here’s that fun video for you:

There you go, gang!!  Talk to you all again soon!
