PREY Is The Game To Play In 2017

prey video gamePREY has only been out a couple of days and I am so excited about this game. That’s really saying something since I don’t really tend to get excited over video games.  It’s also put out by Bethesda, which is a big shot in the arm.  They tend to put out games I like.

In order to get my attention, a game has to go beyond the typical genres and have a deeper storyline than most. They have to go above and beyond the norm. Good graphics are nice, but not essential. Story and uniqueness is what grabs my attention. PREY has done this.

Here’s the break-down:

“In PREY, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station — your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities. The fate of the Talos I and everyone aboard is in your hands.”

I have, to this point, refused to watch any player’s game-play. Usually I will look up a game on Twitch to see if it may be a game I want. With PREY, I was convinced since I saw the first trailer and I just do not want anything spoiled for me.

With what I have seen, PREY is very reminiscent of the Bioshock games in their style, look, and unique story. I’m sure that is one reason that I am so excited about it. I have been a huge fanboy of the Bioshocks since the first one.

New video games tend to run about $60 anymore, but I found where I can grab it at a very affordable price.

If you’re looking for something exciting that will keep you involved, I think PREY is going to be the game to do it in 2017. If you are playing it yourself, leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. No spoilers, please! 😉

*NEW* 7 Eleven Pepsi Fire Slurpee REVIEW 🔥

Another day, another review!!  Today, I’m reviewing the *NEW* 7 Eleven Pepsi Fire Slurpee.

I always look forward to new Slurpee flavors and 7 Eleven never seems to be lacking.  This time around, it is a Slurpee with Pepsi and some heat.  Sounded weird, but looked good on the advertisement, so who am I not to try it?

After my review, my son ran over to give it a try.  He had really good things to say about it, actually claiming it was now one of his top favorite 7 Eleven Slurpees.  That’s saying a lot!

Anywho, take care of yourselves and I’ll see you on the next review.

Fidgets Are All The Rage! What Are Fidgets For?

Fidgets are all the rage!  Fidgets are not only the hottest toys right now, but they are helping many special needs kids, people with ADHD, kids and adults in therapy, calming, stress, anxiety issues, and people are finding more needs and uses for these interesting little things every day.

fidgets spinnerWhat are Fidgets?  Fidgets come in all shapes and sizes and can be used to calm, focus, and regulate.  My son has been someone who has fidgeted since he was little.  He was home schooled and simply could not concentrate well unless he had something in his hands, like a pencil, pen, or anything that he could play with.  You’d think it would be a distraction and keep him from focusing on the subject being taught.  Just the opposite!  He learned so much better when he was fidgeting. Fidget for the classroom?  Yes, please!

Research has discovered that there are many people who function so much better when they have a Fidget in their possession.  And, as I said, Fidgets come in all shapes and sizes to fit any person and their particular needs.  The Fidget Spinners are ones most popular with a lot of people.  I keep trying to get my hands on one from my local 7 Eleven who carried them, but as soon as they get a new shipment in, they’re sold out again.  It’s crazy cool!

Finally, kids are discovering and enjoying something that doesn’t harm them and isn’t something completely worthless, but actually helps them!  The best part is, they may not even realize it.  To them, a Fidget may be just a toy.  More and more parents, teachers, and theapists are realizing that they are so much more.  These little gadgets are not only helping people learn better, but helping with disabilities of all kinds.

Fidgets are the ultimate toy for nerds, too!  That, my friends, is totally freaking awesome!

Let me point you in the right directions if you’re looking to pick up a Fidget or two for yourself, friends, classroom, or family members:

I’ll have more places to get all sorts of Fidgets at good prices in the near future, although these first two are the best and exactly why I put them up first.  Stay tuned!

HAVE A FREAKING AWESOME DAY!!

The YouTube Food Reviewers That I Watch

Hi gang!

I’ve noticed a question coming up a lot on the live chats I have on Saturday evenings.  “Who are are your favorite food reviewers?  What YouTube foodies do you watch most?”

Not everyone is going to be on the same chat (I hope that changes eventually and I’ll have the whole YouTube world watching! haha), so rather than answering the question over and over and over again, I decided that it was past time to make a video about it and put the question to rest, once and for all.  At least to date.

Here is that video:

Now you know!  Thanks for tuning into the channel and if you haven’t subscribed already, I’d love to have you on a regular basis.  Also, make sure to tune into the Saturday chats, live on YouTube at 5 pm, Pacific.  We have a great time!

Take care and I’ll talk to you again real soon!

1966 Batman And Robin Collectible Figurines! HOLY GOTTA HAVE THEM!

I just spotted these 1966 Batman and Robin collectible figurines from the Bradford Exchange today.  I gotta have these things!!  They are so groovy!

1966 Batman and Robin

I’ve loved the 1966 Batman television series since I was a kid.  As campy as it was, I learned many good life lessons from it.  Honesty and right and wrong were two of the biggies.  Presently, I the have Funko Batman Pop Vinyl and Robin Pop Vinyl and the entire Batman TV series on DVD.  I have the movie, too.  You can never have too much Batman!  I simply think there is no one better to be the Dynamic Duo than Adam West and Burt Ward.

I’ve always loved the quality of products coming out of the Bradford Exchange.  They have always put out really beautifully detailed things and these 1966 Batman and Robin figurines are no exception.  Molded and painted to flawless perfection, these come as close to the real things as anyone could get.

Now, all I need is the 1966 Batmobile to put into my garage and I can die happy! 😀

Showing Doctor Who Some Love

I was a noob to Doctor Who and his exploits until recently.  Although the phenomenon began decades ago, I was never exposed to The Doctor until a couple years back.  Strange for a nerd, right?

I cut my teeth on the 9th Doctor (played by Christopher Eccleston) and his then sidekick, Rose Tyler.  This was the first series of the show’s revival in 2005.  I instantly fell in love with Doctor Who.  The episodes were exciting, fun, humorous, sometimes emotional, and pretty much self-contained.  A new adventure every episode!

10 doctor who doctor and rose tyler

Fun story for you.   As a Background Actor/Extra, I’ve gotten to work in productions shot here in Portland, such as GRIMM, Leverage, The Librarians, and Portlandia, for almost a decade so far.  Every once in a while, I also have to opportunity to do a movie shoot.  In early January of this year, a film called Bad Samaritan was being shot at a prison here in Portland.  One of the stars happened to be David Tennent, who portrayed the 10th Doctor in the Doctor Who series.  It was a two day shoot where I played a detective.  Just a fun time that I thought I’d share.

David Tennant - Doctor Who

The latest Doctor (Peter Capaldi) hasn’t captured me as much as the 9th and 10th Doctors did.  Not sure exactly why.  Regardless, I’ve been grabbing some Doctor Who goodies here and there to decorate up my apartment and use for my set on my Old Nerd Reviews YouTube channel.  I particularly enjoy my Tardis and 9th Doctor Funko Pops.  I still need to grab a 10th Doctor Pop.  I LOVE these Funko Pop Vinyl things!

I’d like to know who your favorite Doctor is and why.  Also, feel free to share any Doctor Who memories special to you.  Thanks for listening to my ramblings and I’ll see you at Old Nerd Reviews. 😉

HAVE A FREAKING AWESOME DAY!!

REVIEW: Nabisco Peeps Oreos

Hola, gang!

Peeps Oreos has arrived. When I spotted these on the store shelf, I immediately began having daymares (nightmares when you’re wide awake) of Swedish Fish Oreos and Blue Raspberry Twinkies. Needless to say, I fully expected to be terrified at first bite.

I love Oreo cookies and whenever a new variety arrives, I cringe. I’m always so afraid Nabisco will bastardize the cookies and tarnish the reputation once again. I have no clue how Swedish Fish Oreos ever made it past Quality Control. I’ve eaten better at a paint store!

So, sit down with me, grab a glass of cold milk, and watch my taste test and review of the Peeps Oreo:

There you go, gang! I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for watching. Please SUBSCRIBE if you haven’t already, stalk me on my social networks, and I hope to see you on Saturday’s LIVE chat, 5 PM, Pacific.

Tomorrow Is NATIONAL PANCAKE DAY! #NationalPancakeDay

I love pancakes and tomorrow just happens to be National Pancake Day.  My favorite would be a big stack of blueberry pancakes, with lots of warm butter and pure maple syrup. #nomnom

What are your favorite pancakes?

National Pancake Day

I did a little research online for you and the only special I could find was from IHOP.  From 7am – 7pm, to celebrate National Pancake Day, they are offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes! In return, all they ask is that you make a donation to their charitable partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.  I’d say that’s a pretty good deal!

If you know of any other place offering specials in celebration of National Pancake Day, leave them in the comments here or hit me up on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/oldnerdreviews and I’ll be happy to add them to this post.

Have a yummy time and I’ll talk to you again soon! 😉

REVIEW: Popeye’s Chicken Waffle Tenders

Hola, gang!

Today, I ventured out to Popeye’s to try their limited-time Chicken Waffle Tenders.

There has been a butt-load of food reviewers out there running to KFC and taste-testing their new Georgia Gold Chicken.  I choose not to hit every ship that comes along since it tends to bury each other’s reviews and no one wins.  I’m a YouTube Creator, but am also a businessman.  If it’s not going to do a thing for me and my brand, I probably won’t do it, with very few exceptions to that rule.  It’s much more valuable and beneficial to create evergreen videos rather than tent-pole videos.  I want people to be able to watch a video that I made 5 years ago and find it to be as relevant now as it was back when I originally put it out.

I decided that the Popeye’s Chicken Waffle Tenders was a better thing to review.  They were first introduced in 2014 and have made a come-back.  If Popeye’s continues to take them off the menu and bring them back every once in a while, it just makes more sense to me to do this rather than something that is here for a while and may never return.  Tent Pole videos are great to get an initial boost of viewers, but not a lot happens beyond that.  Of course, things that are on a restaurant’s menu full-time are always the best items to do.  But, I digress.  So, without further ado, here is my review of the Popeye’s Chicken Waffle Tenders:

There you go, gang!  I hope you enjoyed it and would love to hear your opinions on the Chicken Waffle Tenders.

Leave a comment, share the video if you would, and please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE.  You all are why I do what I do. 😉

HAVE A FREAKING AWESOME DAY!!
